The Carlton library is an emblematic example of the creations made by Ettore Sottsass for the Memphis group. Composed of laminated plastic and wood, this bookcase catches the eye with its eccentricity and its warm character. The bright colors and the originality of the structure, which at first glance seems random, are reminiscent of avant-garde paintings and sculptures. Yet beneath this colorful and extravagant surface is a real logical and symmetrical construction based on a combination of equilateral triangles.
