French glassworker and decorator, Max Ingrand studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris where he specialized in decorative arts. In 1954, he was appointed artistic director of Italian lighting company FontanaArte, which he led on the path of Modernism.
This rare table lamp was designed in 1955 and manufactured by FontanaArte. It offers a perfect combination of two materials with very distinctive properties for the discs and the base: the delicacy of the glass and the strength of the brass. The modern design brings a sense of lightness, almost defying gravity, comparable to an object floating in outer-space.
