This remarkable sideboard was designed by Charlotte Perriand in the early 1960’s. Perriand was tasked with the interior design of the dwellings in the newly built city of Cansado in Mauritania. This sideboard was conceived for the senior managers’ housing of the mine. The neutral colors are also characteristics of her work, reminiscent of her Japanese influence.
This sideboard with its specific iron feet was exclusively manufactured in a small series by Steph Simon. According to the available documentation, only 62 were produced. This model was made in ash, a wood found in West and Central Africa.
